الآخرة والمدينة الفاضلة
الآخرة ليست فكرة عابرة، ولا خيال يعيشه الإنسان، إنما حقيقة يحيا الضمير بها، ومعين يتدفق لينبت بالقلب كل خير وجميل، بل إن الآخرة قوة دافعة تسكن القلب، وتهذب السلوك، وتمنح الأفراد والمجتمعات طمأنينة ورحمة.
إن الإنسان حين يدرك أنه بعد هذه الحياة سيقف بين يدى الخالق ليحساب على الكبير والصغير، تكتمل له المعادلة، وتتبدل نظرته لذاته ورسالته وللكون والحياة، فيتحرر من أسر شهوته وأنانيته، ليغدو عبدًا لله قبل أن يكون أسير ا لملذاته ورغباته.
إن الإيمان بالآخرة يغرس في النفس ميزانًا للخير والشر لا يختل، ميزانًا لا تفرضه القوانين، بل يفرضه الضمير، فيزرع الإنسان الخير وإن لم يطعمه، فلن يضيع فى الآخرة عمله، ويجتنب الظلم، لا لخوف من قانون أرضى، بل لخشية من العدل الإلهى.
لقد رأيت المدينة الفاضلة فى مجتمع المدينة المنورة، ذلك المجتمع الذى شيده الإيمان بالآخرة فى قلوب المهاجرين والأنصار، فبذل المؤمنون بالآخرة لبعضهم ودا ورحمة ومحبة. فاقتسموا الأموال والدور عن طيب خاطر، لإيمانهم أن جزاء الآخرة خير وأبقى.
وعلى الجانب الآخر، رأينا مجتمعات ضعف فيها الإيمان بالآخرة، فاختلت القيم والموازين فى النفوس، وأصبح الاختلاس والرشوة مغنما، وأداء الحقوق والزكوات مغرما، والنفاق فطنة، والكذب حكمة وذكاء تقتضيه الحالة، وأكل اليتامى والفقراء مستساغا، فتحول المجتمع لغابة موحشة، غابت فيها العدالة والرحمة والمحبة، فضلا عن القانون والأخلاق، فشقى الجميع.
إن الإيمان بالآخرة يخلع الإنسان من عالم المادة ليربطه بعالمٍ أكثر سعة وإشراقا، ويجعل من بذل الخير للغير استثمارًا أبديًا لا يفسده فناء العمر، ويرى كل لحظة طريقًا إلى الله، وكل عمل زادًا إلى دار الخلود.
إن هذه الدنيا لن تصلح أبدا إلا بإشراق أنوار الآخرة فى قلوب أهلها، فلن يستقيم سلوك المجتمع إلا حين تستيقن القلوب أن بعد الموت حساب.
فالايمان بالآخرة سر يجعل من الإنسان خليفة لله في أرضه، يعمل فيها بالعدل والرحمة.

The Hereafter and the Ideal City

The Hereafter is not a fleeting thought, nor a figment of human imagination. Rather, it is a reality that sustains the conscience, a wellspring that flows to cultivate all that is good and beautiful in the heart. Indeed, the Hereafter is a driving force that resides within the heart, refines behavior, and bestows upon individuals and societies tranquility and mercy.
When a person realizes that after this life they will stand before the Creator to be held accountable for every deed, great and small, the equation is complete. Their perspective on themselves, their purpose, the universe, and life itself is transformed. They are liberated from the shackles of their desires and selfishness, becoming a servant of God before being enslaved by their pleasures and whims.
Belief in the Hereafter instills in the soul an unwavering balance of good and evil, a balance not imposed by laws, but by conscience. Thus, a person sows goodness, and even if they do not reap its fruits, their deeds will not be lost in the Hereafter. They avoid injustice, not out of fear of earthly laws, but out of reverence for divine justice.
I witnessed the ideal society in Medina, a society built upon the faith in the Hereafter in the hearts of the Muhajireen and Ansar. Those who believed in the Hereafter showed each other kindness, mercy, and love. They willingly shared their wealth, homes, confident that the reward in the Hereafter was better and more lasting.
On the other hand, we saw societies where faith in the Hereafter weakened, leading to a distortion of values and moral standards. Embezzlement and bribery became profitable, fulfilling obligations and paying Zakat became a burden, hypocrisy was considered shrewdness, and lying was deemed wisdom and intelligence dictated by the situation. Exploiting orphans and the poor became acceptable, transforming society into a savage jungle devoid of justice, mercy, and love, not to mention law and morality. Everyone suffered.
Faith in the Hereafter liberates a person from the material world, connecting them to a more expansive and radiant realm. It transforms acts of kindness towards others into an eternal investment, unaffected by the passage of time. It sees every moment as a path to God and every deed as provision for the eternal abode.
This world will never be truly right except by the light of the Hereafter shining in the hearts of its inhabitants. Society’s conduct will not be upright until hearts are certain that there will be a reckoning after death.
Belief in the Hereafter is the secret that makes humankind God’s vicegerent on Earth, acting with justice and mercy.
